The legs echo the colours  of the body and head in a variety of glass beads and bugles including beautiful iridescent blue/black Swarovski crystals.I have chosen to display the yellow and orange on the front, but you could gently move the body bead around until you have the blue showing with either the yellow or orange.————————————————————The Legend of the Christmas SpiderOnce upon a time at Christmas...A poor family down on their kneesWent to the forest to cut one of its treesWith no money for decorations to spareThe tree would sadly have to stay looking bareBut a little spider had hitched a rideAnd tried his best to stay out of sightWhen up went the tree the spider beganspinning a web, back and forth he ranCome morn the sun made the silken strands shineShimmering in shades of Silver and Gold oh so fineThe family on waking looked on in aweNot believing what their weary eyes sawThey felt oh so blessed and realisation struckFrom then on they would only have good luck©️ Gabi Innocent

Beaded Jewel Spider - Dewdrop

Beaded spider handmade by Love Gorgeous owner Gabi Innocent. Each of these pretty beaded jewel spiders is a one-off. Apart from being popular for Halloween they make lovely unusual Christmas decorations as it is considered lucky to hang a spider on your tree and are a great gift for arachnophiles.Spiders are considered lucky and even thought to have been the inspiration for tinsel decoration for Christmas, courtesy of the legend of the Christmas spider. Spiders can come with a little card explaining the story of the Christmas spider, interpreted in my poem below.Dewdrop is a stunning quite large spider featuring the most beautiful big earthtone lampwork bead with incredibly symmetrical raised graduating transluscent iridescent blue lilac dots and small raised ivory dots. The raised dots on this gorgeous bead reminded me of dewdrops shimmering in the early morning sun on a crips day, hence the name. Dewdrop’s head is an electroplated natural transluscent quartz crystal that shimmers in soft gold and the palest of pinks. A clear crystal rondelle and beadcaps complete the body. The legs consist of tiny Myuki seed beads, half silver plated clear iridescent crystals, silver crystals, iridescent transluscent glass beads and bugles. The cost of this spider reflects the extraordinary skill and time taken by the skilled glass artist to painstakingly craft the exquisite body bead over an open flame and so skilfully apply even sized raised dots of molten glass in such an amazingly symmetrical fashion. Having once watched a demonstration of a very simple lampwork bead being created, a process that took around half an hour, a fraction of how long this one will have taken, I am in absolute awe of the skill required to make these gorgeous beads and feel honoured to be able to incorporate them into my work. ————————————————————The Legend of the Christmas SpiderOnce upon a time at Christmas...A poor family down on their kneesWent to the forest to cut one of its treesWith no money for decorations to spareThe tree would sadly have to stay looking bareBut a little spider had hitched a rideAnd tried his best to stay out of sightWhen up went the tree the spider beganspinning a web, back and forth he ranCome morn the sun made the silken strands shineShimmering in shades of Silver and Gold oh so fineThe family on waking looked on in aweNot believing what their weary eyes sawThey felt oh so blessed and realisation struckFrom then on they would only have good luck©️ Gabi Innocent
